Body Found Along 405 Freeway

Officials with the California Highway Patrol said they responded to an encampment just before 4 a.m. Tuesday and found a man's body.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — Authorities are investigating after finding a man's body at a homeless encampment in Lawndale Tuesday morning.

Officials with the California Highway Patrol said they responded to the encampment near the San Diego (405) Freeway, just north of Manhattan Beach Boulevard, at around 3:53 a.m. Tuesday.

There, officers found the man's body and he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.

CHP Officer Alec Pereyda said the man's death was still under investigation and it was unclear whether foul play was suspected.
