Boy Suspected of Shooting Outside High School in San Gabriel Arrested

The boy is suspected in a shooting that occurred Monday outside Del Mar High School, according to the San Gabriel Police Department.

SAN GABRIEL, CA — A boy suspected of firing shots outside a high school in San Gabriel was taken into custody Tuesday.

Detectives located the unidentified juvenile around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday. He is suspected in a shooting that occurred Monday outside Del Mar High School at 312 S. Del Mar Ave., according to the San Gabriel Police Department. There were no reports of any injuries.

According to police, officers spotted the suspect outside a home in San Gabriel, but he attempted to flee on foot and tossed away a handgun, which was later recovered. The boy, a student in the San Gabriel Unified School District, was captured and taken into custody.

"The capture of the alleged suspect could not have happened without the community's help and collaboration with the San Gabriel Unified School District staff," police said in a statement.
