Dog Falls Ill On LA-Bound Flight, Plane Diverted

The diversion caused a delay of over two hours before it continued onward to Los Angeles, according to Delta officials.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A Delta flight bound for Los Angeles was diverted to Minneapolis, Minnesota on Memorial Day after a dog aboard the plane fell ill, according to airline officials.

Delta flight 694 was on its way from Detroit to Los Angeles on Monday when crewmembers were alerted that a dog was not feeling well, the airline said in a statement.

A veterinarian aboard the plane provided care to the dog as the plane was diverted to Minneapolis to allow the dog and its owner to deplane, according to Delta airlines.

The flight, which had 187 people aboard, including six crew members, was delayed for two-and-a-half hours before it continued onward to Los Angeles, where it landed safely, according to Delta.
