The child and two other passengers, including his mother, were taken to hospitals, while the driver fled the scene, police said.

LOS ANGELES — A 4-year-old passenger died after a driver struck a building and fled the scene of the crash in the Crenshaw neighborhood, according to police.

The collision occurred around 11 p.m. Tuesday when the driver of a white Infiniti FX35 lost control while speeding north on Crenshaw Boulevard and hit a building at Rodeo Place, police said.

"The driver of the vehicle failed to remain at scene and render aid to a 4-year-old passenger in the vehicle," Los Angeles police said in a news release. "The driver abandoned the vehicle at scene and fled in a white sedan."
