LAPD Officers, Driver Injured in Traffic Crash
A patrol unit responding to a call about an armed suspect with lights and sirens was involved in a crash in the University Park area.
LOS ANGELES, CA — A Los Angeles Police Department patrol unit was involved in a crash while responding to a call for backup involving an armed suspect in the University Park area, sending a motorist to a hospital and leaving two officers with minor injuries, police said Monday.
According to the LAPD, officers responded to the intersection of West Adams Boulevard and South Saint James Place around 5:55 p.m. Sunday on reports of a possible armed suspect. Responding officers determined additional assistance was required and they put out a "help call" for assistance apprehending the suspect.
"While responding to this help call with lights and sirens activated, a patrol unit was involved in a crash with another vehicle at the intersection of Adams Boulevard and Gramercy Place," police said in a statement.

The driver of the other vehicle was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries, police said. The officers involved in the crash were taken to a hospital, where they were treated and released.
The LAPD Multi-Disciplinary Collision Investigation Team was investigating the crash.
