North Hollywood Pair Arrested In Connection With Mail Carrier Robbery

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA — A in North Hollywood man and a woman suspected of robbing a mail carrier were arrested at their home Wednesday on suspicion of identity theft and carrying an unregistered gun.

Burbank Police Department officers responded about 2 p.m. on Sept. 12 to the 200 block of South Sixth Street near Olive Avenue, on reports of the robbery and made contact with an on-duty United States Postal Service mail carrier, who told police she was placing mail into a box unit outside of an apartment complex "when her attention was drawn to two (suspects) dressed in FedEx uniforms," according to Burbank police.

One suspect removed the postal worker's universal key from the apartment mailbox and fled with the other suspect in a nearby vehicle. The postal worker took a picture of the suspect vehicle's license plate and provided the information to authorities.

Burbank Police Department detectives used the information provided and additional collected evidence to identify the suspects as s 42-year-old Aram Avetisyan and 37-year-old Taguhi Avetisyan. The relationship between the two suspects, if any, was not specified by police, but authorities noted neither was a FedEx employee.

Burbank police arrested the two suspects about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at their residence in the 11400 block of Hatteras Street, near Lankershim Boulevard, in North Hollywood, and they were booked on felony charges including identity theft and possession of an unregistered firearm.

Aram Avetisyan was being held on $20,000 bail and was set to appear in court on Friday. Taguhi Avetisyan was released after posting bond and is due to appear in court Nov. 17.
