📰 Here are the top stories today in Los Angeles:
- Two vehicles collided near 21400 West Ventura Boulevard. The accident happened Wednesday morning around 8 a.m. Three people were taken to the hospital, and one car burst into flames. However, there was no entrapment. (LAFD)
- Five thousand L.A. families with demonstrated hardship will receive $300 each from the Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles. They have to be connected with the Community Investment for Families Department’s FamilySource Center. We learned on Tuesday that qualifying families will receive funds through the Angeleno Connect Card. (KTLA)
- Boyle Heights’ Zamora Bros. carnitas restaurant is ground zero for the ongoing effort to recall Kevin De León. Besides that, we learned on Monday that the restaurant owner intends to run for the District 14 city council seat. If you’re still looking for a place to sign the recall petition, head to 1503 East Cesar E Chavez Avenue. (Member of Recall Kevin CD14UNITED)
- Metrolink wants to get you to the Rose Parade. The parade of floats, which will be on January 2 this year, takes place in Pasadena. Getting there is easy with early-morning trains on selected lines. They are the Antelope Valley Line, Ventura County Line, San Bernardino Line, Orange County Line, and 91/Perris Valley Line. Metrolink will add extra trains to take parade watchers to the location well ahead of the 8 a.m. start time. (Metrolink Trains)
- The Midtowne Spa at 615 Kohler Street closed “with little to no fanfare” on Monday. Patrons know it as a hook-up place for men seeking men, as well as a “sex positive and Queer sanctuary.” The property where the business was located is listed for sale, with a reduced asking price of $6,500,000.
