TORRANCE, CA — A company in Southern California is recalling prepared vegetable products due to a potential risk for botulism, according to an announcement published by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration.

AKT Trading Inc. of Torrance is recalling the products manufactured by Choshiya Honten Co. Ltd., which lack a “keep refrigerated” statement, an omission that could result in the growth of life-threatening Clostridium botulinum if the items are stored at room temperature, according to the announcement.

“Consumers are warned not to use the product even if it does not look or smell spoiled,” the announcement said.

“People experiencing these problems should seek immediate medical attention,” the announcement said.
