📰 Here are the top stories in Los Angeles today:

1) In May, we talked about two women who had shot a 69-year-old, wheelchair-bound amputee in the head outside the McDonald’s at Western and West Century. On Thursday, the PD announces the arrest of three suspects. They range in age from 32 to 37. Officers noted that one of the suspects also shot a 67-year-old homeless woman at “a bus stop at 1606 West Manchester Ave. on May 21.” “The murder of this victim – who was unhoused and a double amputee asleep in his wheelchair – is disturbingly brutal and callous, District Attorney Gascón said.” (Patch, KTLA)

2) Route Fire Update: As of Friday, the fire consuming 5,208 acres in the Castaic area is 37% contained. “The northbound I-5 just north of Lake Hughes Road has two left lanes open & two right lanes closed. ALL LANES OPEN on the southbound side from Templin Highway to Lake Hughes Road.” (LA County FD)

3) On Wednesday morning, a passenger van hit two pedestrians near LAX Terminal 1. “The driver of the van, an adult male, was transported to a hospital in fair condition,” as was one of the pedestrians. (KTLA)

4) There was a rally at Belmont High School on Thursday. It benefitted Robert Lyles, class of 1979, who went on to play for the Houston Oilers and Atlanta Falcons. Now, the 61-year-old needs a heart transplant and his “NFL insurance is expired.” "Belmont High School is behind you, and we're doing this game in support of you, said a former teammate." Attendees raised $50,000. (CBS)

5) Mark your calendars! The Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation will be hosting the annual Valor Awards at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday, December 6 at 4 p.m. "All proceed raised through corporate sponsorship, ticket sales, and the silent auction will benefit the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation in purchasing life-saving tools and equipment for our LAFD firefighters." (LAFD Valor 2022)
