📰 Here are the top five stories in Los Angeles today:

1) Windsor Hills crash update: The suspect in the high-speed crash that killed six had “asked the court for release on bail.” The prosecution responded on Friday. Opposing her request, prosecutors said that there was “substantial evidence that the crash back on Aug. 4 was deliberate.” This revelation directly contradicts the defense’s assertion that the suspect “suffered some sort of lapse in consciousness before the wreck.” There will be another bail hearing next week. (NBC)

2) The Victory Baptist Church at 4802 South McKinley Avenue was destroyed by a fire on Sunday. It took firefighters an hour and 40 minutes to knock down the flames. “The interior structure collapsed,” which injured a couple of firefighters. An arson investigation is now underway. (My News L.A.)

3) The PD is searching for a man who broke into Karen Bass’ home on Friday. The mayoral candidate explained that “when she arrived to her Baldwin Hills home, she saw a burglar inside the house and immediately called police.” The only thing stolen were two guns. (CBS)

4) The National University rankings are out! We learned on Monday that out of 443 venues, Los Angeles enters the list in 20th place, with the University of California, L.A. and Berkeley sharing the spot. In 25th place, there is the University of Southern California. At the top of the list nationwide is Princeton in NJ. (US News)

5) Mark your calendars! The Los Angeles Beer Festival is Saturday at the L.A. Center Studios. Located at 450 South Bixel Street, parking is available at 6th and Bixel. “The event will feature over 80 breweries, 200 beers, 15 of LA’s best food trucks as well as live bands, Power 106 DJ and much more!” (L.A. Beer Fest)
