Los Gatos-Saratoga high school district facing $3.2 million deficit (mercurynews.com) — Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District is staring at a $3.2 million deficit this fiscal year, driven largely by recent salary increases and higher personnel costs. Despite certifying it can meet obligations for three years, the district is now scrutinizing contracts, special education spending, and energy efficiency to close the gap—moves that could affect services and programs at Los Gatos and Saratoga high schools.
   

2. Montalvo Arts Center to be closed for construction (mercurynews.com) — Montalvo Arts Center will be closed to the public Dec. 20–Jan. 5, affecting local access except for ticketed events. Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District also plans to refinance 2014 Measure E bonds, potentially saving local taxpayers about $1.2 million, while celebrating Saratoga High alum Mikaela Burton’s rise as a Hollywood executive.
   

3. Los Gatos Council Moves Ahead with Plans for Gay Pride Flag (sanjoseinside.com) — Los Gatos is on track to allow the Progress Pride Flag to fly over Town Hall next June, after a 4-1 council vote to advance a new flag policy. A packed, emotional meeting featured sharp disagreements between LGBTQ+ supporters, students, religious residents and conservatives. The final decision will come when the updated policy and June flag resolution return early next year.
   

4. Rob Moore is the youngest mayor ever to take charge of Los Gatos (but just barely) Los Gatos, California (losgatan.com) — Los Gatos has a new, 27-year-old mayor: Rob Moore, unanimously selected by the Town Council at a packed Dec. 9 meeting and now the youngest person to hold the role. Moore pledged to be a mayor for all residents, highlighting priorities like housing, youth and seniors, street safety, emergency preparedness, and overall community vitality as he serves through December 2026.
