LETTER: Save These Historic Bricks in Malibu

Virginia Tucker raises awareness about historic bricks at a Malibu home of Sea Level Drive.

Dear Editor,

On Saturday my husband and I strolled down Sealevel Drive (Lechuza Beach) and noticed some historical bricks in a driveway that looks like it's either going to be bulldozed or reincorporated into a new home.

Is there a historical society that might be interested in retrieving them if they intend on bulldozing? Here are two photos of the brickwork. People collect this stuff and try to save them when they're still intact since it's a very important part of California history.

Looking at Zillow, I think the address is: 31637 Sea Level Drive, Malibu.

The Bricks appear to be made in Long Beach, CA. c.1920-1925 by Southwest Brick Co. They are kind of rare ... not too many left.

Virginia Tucker,
Malibu
