County officials will test the water daily to determine when the beach can reopen.
MALIBU, CA — Malibu Lagoon State Beach has been shut down after 5,000 to 6,000 gallons of raw sewage spilled into the ocean this week.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health ordered that the state beach, as well as beaches ¼ mile north and ¼ mile south, be closed.
The sewage discharged into the ocean after a damaged wastewater line leaked into a storm drain at the corner of Malibu Canyon Road and Potter Road.
