Malibu Restaurant Makes Yelp's Top 100 List For 2022

One beachfront Malibu restaurant made it onto Yelp's Top 100 Places to Eat in 2022 ​​—​ it's the only Los Angeles eatery to make the list.

MALIBU, CA — One Malibu restaurant, Moonshadows, made it onto Yelp's annual list of the Top 100 Places to Eat in the United States.

Moonshadows was ranked No. 86 and was one of only four restaurants in the state to land a top spot.

To make it onto the list, Yelp asked its users which restaurants they were looking forward to eating at in 2022, the company said in a statement.

Yelp looked at the number of submissions a restaurant received, judging it against the number of reviews and ratings it has on the site as well as its "geographic representation" compared to top-rated restaurants across the country. Then, the company consulted with Community Managers to finalize the rankings, Yelp said.

Moonshadows, which sits at 20356 Pacific Coast Highway, was included on account of its chic atmosphere, stunning ocean view and seafood.

"Perched above the Pacific Ocean at Malibu Beach, this casual but chic eatery is a popular destination for anniversaries, birthday dinners, and romantic, post-beach cocktails. Many diners come just for a coveted spot on the sundeck.," the company said.

The top five restaurants on Yelp's list of places to eat in the U.S. are:

  • Cocina Madrigal in Phoenix, Ariz.
  • Aracosia-McLean in McLean, Va.
  • Fermentation Farm in Costa Mesa, Calif.
  • Oriole in Chicago, Ill.
  • Bird Bird Biscuit in Austin, Texas
