Malibu Schools Closed Tuesday As Major Roads Remain Closed
School officials initially planned to open Malibu schools Tuesday, but reversed course after further review of conditions in the city.

MALIBU, CA — Schools in Malibu remain closed for a second day in a row Tuesday amid the winter storm that has wreaked havoc on the city's infrastructure.
Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District schools were all closed Monday as the brunt of the storm bore down on the region. District officials Monday night said they expected schools to reopen Tuesday and then confirmed that decision at around 6:30 a.m. in an email to parents — but 90 minutes later the district reversed course, closing Malibu schools.
"Due to further review of conditions in and around the Malibu community, the decision has been made to close all Malibu schools today," Malibu Pathway Executive Director Isaac Burgess wrote. "We do have staff on campus if your student has already arrived, therefore they are being supervised at this time. Be on the lookout for messages from your school administration."
