Know someone who makes Malibu a better place through the city's recreation programs?

MALIBU, CA — Know someone who dedicates their time to making Malibu a better place through the city's recreation programs? The city is now accepting nominations for the Jake Kuredjian Citizenship Award.
The Parks and Recreation Commission's award is presented each year to a person or group who has given their time and resources to enhance the quality of recreation programs in the city.
Every year, the Jake Kuredjian Award recognizes community members who dedicate their time and energy to making Malibu a better place for all,” Mayor Steve Uhring said. “I encourage everyone in Malibu to submit nominations for that special person who brings the community together.”

Last year's recipient was the late coastal activist Sara Wan, who cofounded the Western Alliance for Nature land conservancy and served on various commissions.
The award is named in honor of Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Hagop "Jake" Kuredjian, who was killed in the line of duty in 2001.
