Man Reported Missing From Palisades Fire Burn Area In Malibu

The man, last seen the day the Palisades Fire broke out, was reported missing from an area that has since been impacted by the blaze.

MALIBU, CA — Authorities say a 69-year-old man who was last seen in Malibu the day the Palisades Fire broke out is at risk, and they're asking for the public's help to find him.

Jeffrey James Takeyama was last seen on Tuesday near the 23000 block of West Paloma Blanca Drive, located in the mountains near Rambla Pacifico Street and Las Flores Canyon Road.

Takeyama is a 5-foot-10 Asian man who weighs 170 lbs. He has black hair, brown eyes, and is missing his left eye.

He was last seen wearing a hat, black glasses, short-sleeve shirt and black sweatpants.

"Mr. Takeyama’s family is concerned for his well-being and are requesting the public’s help in locating him," the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department said.

The general area in which Takeyama was last seen has since been impacted by the Palisades Fire and is within the evacuation area, Cal Fire's map shows.

The fire broke out at around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Pacific Palisades and has since spread into Malibu.
