MALIBU, CA — Pepperdine University announced increased security Sunday after a note indicating a shooting at four local schools was found at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, authorities said.

An attendee at Saturday's game between the University of Southern California and Notre Dame University at the Coliseum found a handwritten note "purportedly indicating a potential planned 'shooting at school'" on Sunday, November 27th," according to Pepperdine's Department of Public Safety.

Authorities had found no sign of a credible threat by 12:32 a.m. Sunday.

"After discussing with the Los Angeles Police Department, while we do not currently view this as a highly credible threat, out of an abundance of caution and to be transparent in communications, we are alerting our community for awareness. As we would for any such situation, Pepperdine continues to work with law enforcement and has put in place a number of additional security measures, which the community may notice, and our security teams remain on heightened alert," Pepperdine's Department of Public Safety wrote in an alert Sunday.

California Lutheran University held virtual classes Monday as a result of the note, according to KCLU. The Thousand Oaks University also cancelled in-person events.
