MALIBU, CA — Ongoing windy weather could prompt Southern California Edison to shut off power to some parts of east and west Malibu Monday and Tuesday, according to the city.

The utility has warned that it may shut off power on the Galahad, Nicholas and Serra circuits Monday and Tuesday in order to curb the chance of its equipment starting a wildfire amid the winds.

The Galahad circuit runs from the western edge of Point Dume to Point Mugu and two to four miles inland.

The Nicholas circuit runs from Malibu Lagoon eastward to Getty Villa and about four miles inland.

The Serra circuit runs from through Malibu Canyon between Seaver Drive to Mulholland Highway.

SCE crews will be stationed at Malibu Bluffs Park at PCH and Malibu Canyon Road from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday and Tuesday to allow residents to charge their devices and get information.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind warning for the Santa Monica Mountains, Malibu, Topanga and Pacific Palisades until 3 p.m. Monday.

Winds of 30 to 45 mph are forecast, with gusts up to 65 mph.
