$500K In Stolen Cards, Signed Hank Aaron Jersey Recovered By Police

Police arrested four suspects linked to a South Bay sports memorabilia store theft and found a trove of stolen sports treasures.

EL SEGUNDO, CA — Police in El Segundo recently recovered hundreds of thousands of dollars in stolen sports memorabilia, including a signed Hank Aaron Jersey and trading cards.

The El Segundo Police Department said in a statement that two people were arrested April 18 on suspicion of stealing $1,500 in Dodgers apparel from a store in the 700 block of South Pacific Coast Highway.

On April 10, El Segundo police officers responded to the 200 block of Center Street after reports of a grand theft in progress, according to authorities.

When the officers arrived, a male suspect ran out of the store but was met by more police outside, according to authorities.

The officers were able to take the suspect and another person they determined was involved in the grand theft into custody, police said. They also seized a gun from the male suspect, according to police.

During their investigation, officers learned the two suspects were likely responsible for stealing a signed Hank Aaron jersey and roughly $500,000 in baseball cards from a storage unit in another city, according to police.

The male suspect was taken into custody on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of stolen property, narcotic charges, driving a stolen vehicle, and resisting/delaying /obstructing a peace officer, police said.

The other suspect, identified only as a female by police, was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property, possession of hard drugs with two or more prior convictions, and possession of identity theft with a prior conviction, according to authorities.
