Brandy Norwood Unconscious On LAX Flight To New York

The flight had not taken off when the singer fell ill and was transported to a local hospital.

LOS ANGELES, CA — R&b singer Brandy Norwood was taken to the hospital Friday after falling ill on a flight to New York City at LAX, her representatives confirmed.

According to gossip site TMZ.com, the singer was unconscious on a Delta flight that was about to take off. Before the plane pulled out of the gate, the singer lost consciousness, and passengers and flight attendants tended to her, TMZ reported.

The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed that it transported a passenger from LAX to a local hospital in an unknown condition but could not confirm the person's identity per department's rules.

Los Angeles Airport Police assisted in the call at LAX around 7 a.m. and confirmed the LAFD transported one person from the airplane, which was still at the gate, Officer Rob Pedregon said. He also confirmed the plane was flying to New York City.

According to TMZ, Norwood regained consciousness while being treated on the jetway and was stable when she was taken to the hospital.

Representatives for the singer released a statement blaming the situation on exhaustion, but said she was treated at the hospital and "is now at home resting."

"She has been traveling extensively as part of an ongoing tour and several personal appearances," according to her representatives. "In recent days she has taken more than 10 long-haul flights including internationally. She was in the studio all night last night until it was time for her to leave for the airport to catch a 5:45 a.m. flight.

The stress of all of the traveling and working so incessantly has exhausted her. She will be relaxing for the next few days."

The 38-year-old singer from Carson was rumored to be pregnant, which started when she posted a photo on Twitter in May that many thought showed a "baby bump."
