Chevron Richmond Refinery Spill Prompts Public Health Advisory
Twitter lit up Tuesday when word of a spill into the bay from the Chevron Richmond Refinery in the Oakland area leaked out. Here are a few.

Miller/Knox Closed Due to Oil Spill - The Park District has been advised of an oil spill coming from Chevron Refinery Long Wharf in Richmond. For the public’s safety, all access to Miller/Knox will remain closed through at least noon, Wed. Feb. 10.

The petroleum leak at Richmond Chevron has been stopped. Our HazMat team is conducting air monitoring to assess potential community impacts. Avoid the area if possible. People with respiratory conditions should consider staying indoors as a precaution against strong odors.

The Coast guard is currently on scene at the Chevron Long Wharf in Richmond investigating a spill to address potential environmental and safety concerns. We are working closely with Chevron and state and local authorities on a thorough response.

Not the first time that @Chevron has had some sort of refinery accident in Richmond, and definitely won't be the last. Seems that every time, it's a different safety problem. Instead of getting ahead and inspecting the entire system, it's a wait, leak, fix, repeat.
