MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — It’s that time of year again in Manhattan Beach — when the scent of pine meets the salty sea air.

As part of the city’s annual tradition, dozens of live trees line the pier, then wrap around the Roundhouse Aquarium, which is decorated with strands of green lights in the shape of a tree and topped with a bright yellow star.

The festive decor is part of the city’s annual pier lighting and holiday open house, “an evening of holiday music, shopping and dining,” the city’s website says. This year marked the city’s 35th pier lighting and 30th holiday open house.
