MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The following is the most recent Manhattan Beach Police Department crime summary.

From Jan. 23 to 29 there were:

  • 672 calls for service
  • 15 arrests
  • 7 traffic collisions
  • 31 crime reports taken

  • On Jan. 28 MBPD officers were called to the Apple Store at 3200 N. Sepulveda Boulevard for a fraud investigation. At the store, police detained a suspect and found four phones with digital credit cards loaded on them. According to police, the suspect admitted that none of the credit cards belonged to them. MBPD arrested the suspect on suspicion of fraud and booked them into the city jail.
  • Manhattan Beach police responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon that occurred in a neighboring jurisdiction on Jan. 27. MBPD officers detained the driver of a car at the scene in the area of Rosecrans Avenue and Douglas Street. The driver was arrested by officers from the neighboring city's police department.
  • MBPD officers conducted a traffic stop for vehicle code violations on Jan. 26 in the area of Rosecrans Avenue and Aviation Boulevard. According to police, the driver of the vehicle was on probation and agreed to let officers search the car. During the search, police found a driver's license that belonged to another person, drugs and a lock-picking set. Officers called the owner of the driver's license and learned that it was stolen on Jan. 10 but was never reported to the police. MBPD arrested the driver on suspicion of possessing stolen property, a controlled substance and burglary tools.
