Late Night Shooting Under Investigation: Manhattan Beach Crime

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — The following is the most recent Manhattan Beach Police Department crime summary.
From Jan. 30 to Feb. 5 there were:
- 762 calls for service
- 9 arrests
- 23 traffic collisions
- 38 crime reports taken

- Police conducting a traffic stop on Sepulveda Boulevard north of Manhattan Beach Boulevard on Jan. 30 heard multiple gunshots coming from a residential area. At the same time, residents in the area had called to report gunshots in the area of 1400 Elm Avenue and 1400 Oak Avenue. At the time, investigating officers were unable to locate evidence of a shooting in the area. However, the next day MBPD received a phone call from a resident reporting they had found shell casings in the 1400 block of Oak Avenue. Upon further investigation at the scene, police discovered damage from a possible bullet at a construction site nearby. Police checked several homes in the area for injured victims and contacted several residents and business owners to collect statements. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing, police said.
