An eyewitness says Manhattan Beach Police officers are dealing with a suspect in a side yard of a property in the Sand Section, negotiating.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — Update: The individual has been taken into custody as of 11 a.m. and is not being charged with any crimes. He is being taken to a hospital for a mental evaluation.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — A situation is currently evolving with the Manhattan Beach Police Department and a reported suspect in the 100 block of 36th Street, according to Wayne Powell, former Manhattan Beach Mayor, who is in the area. Calls to the Manhattan Beach Police Department have yet to be returned, however, the eyewitness reports that it sounds like MBPD is attempting to talk with the suspect to give himself up. No word yet on what, if anything, the suspect is thought to have done.
