Manhattan Beach Bank of America ATM Users Likely Not Compromised

The Manhattan Beach Police Department makes announcement during live virtual "Coffee With A Cop."

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — During its live virtual "Coffee With A Cop" going on now, the Manhattan Beach Police Department revealed that the recently compromised ATM at the Bank of America on Sepulveda Boulevard shut down once it detected a foreign device placed into it. Officer Chris Ineguez told some 20+ participants on Zoom that "nobody should have been compromised based on that."

He said MBPD issued its news release quickly to ensure people who had used an ATM at that BofA branch checked to see if they had any fraudulent activity. Once more information was received, the department learned that the ATM in question did indeed detect the foreign devices placed into it and shut down to prevent use of the machine and potential fraud.

The affected ATM was the one in the drive-through and affixed to the BofA building at 3016 N. Sepulveda Boulevard.
