Manhattan Beach Police Ask Community to Help 'Stop the Scrooge'
The holiday season is typically a time when law enforcement sees a rise in theft related crimes.

The Manhattan Beach Police Department is asking the public to be vigilant this holiday season in order to help reduce property crimes and theft.
The holiday season is typically a time when law enforcement sees a rise in theft related crimes; with your help, we can stop the opportunity. The MBPD is launching “Operation Stop the Scrooge,” which is a crime prevention campaign initiative to educate the public and stop the “scrooges” who steal our holiday joy.
MBPD will be actively enhancing our presence in the mall and shopping areas throughout the City this holiday season. The Police Department is asking the community to help protect personal valuables and “Stop the Scrooge.” We suggest these simple, but important steps to avoid being a victim of theft:

- ALWAYS lock your car and residence, even if you are away for only a few moments
- Do not leave your purse, wallet, cell phone or other valuables in plain view
- If you must leave valuables in your car, place them out of sight before you reach your destination
- Park in well-lit areas
- Set your alarm or anti-theft device
- Don’t hide your key in or around your car or residence
- When you are away from home traveling, have someone you trust check your mail and bring in your newspaper
