MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — A gun tossed from a reportedly stolen car as Manhattan Beach Police officers were in pursuit has been recovered, Manhattan Beach Patch has learned. Sgt. Michael Sistoni told MB Patch that when officers attempted to pull over the vehicle over around 2:40 a.m. this morning, the driver led them on a pursuit. The gun was tossed from the vehicle near 8th Street and Valley Drive, he said.

Two of the three suspects in the car "bailed" and soon after, the car crashed, hitting a curb after the driver failed to navigate a turn, disabling the car. Two suspects were apprehended soon after they fled the vehicle; the third was found in a residential back yard a few hours later when MBPD and the K9 unit conducted door-to-door property searches, said Sistoni.

First apprehended was a male adult and a juvenile female. The juvenile was released to her parents. Sistoni told Manhattan Beach Patch he believed the male would be released under zero bail. The male adult who was caught in a back yard may be held. MBPD is looking into the matter.
