MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — On your mark, get set, reserve! Reservations are now being taken online for the City of Manhattan Beach's Marine Avenue Skate Spot and exercising on the sand dune at Sand Dune Park. Both city-operated sites are reopening on Monday, July 13 after closing due to COVID-19. Sand Dune's reopening will also include the green space, restrooms, and stairs. The playground and picnic areas will remain closed.
The Skate Spot opened in 2017 and previously did not require reservations. Due to COVID-19 reservations are required and are limited to one hour of use. Reservations are not new to Sand Dune and are also limited to one hour of time on the dune. Reservations cost $1 per hour for a resident and $3 per person for non-residents. Reservations may be made up to a week in advance.
All rules and policies will be enforced and each location will be staffed. There are a number of restrictions and rules for each location. Online rules state social distancing of at least six feet must be maintained at all times and social gathering is not allowed, said Michael Hudak, recreation supervisor for Manhattan Beach Parks and Recreation.
