Pine Tree Catches Fire In Manhattan Beach's Tree Section

The Manhattan Beach Fire Department finds a tree in a home's front yard on fire.

MANHATTAN BEACH, CA — Fire in a pine tree yesterday afternoon in the Tree Section prompted the Manhattan Beach Fire Department to respond, said MBFD Battalion Chief Ron Laursen.

When they arrived on 35th Street near Bell Avenue, firefighters "found a small smoldering fire in a pine tree" in a home's front yard. "Because of power lines running through the tree, firefighters stood by until SCE could arrive to deenergize the lines and allow firefighters to extinguish the fire in the tree," he said.

After investigation, the cause of the fire was undetermined.
