2022 Mill Valley Film Festival Underway

The 45th edition of the film festival runs through Oct. 16. See photos from the opening night.

MILL VALLEY, CA — The 45th annual Mill Valley Film Festival, presented by the California Independent Film Institute, is underway. The 2022 edition kicked off Thursday with the California premiere of “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery,” writer-director Rian Johnson’s follow up to his 2019 hit “Knives Out.”

The opening night festivities lit up with Hollywood glamour as stars Kate Hudson, Leslie Odom Jr., Kathryn Hahn were in attendance for the special occasion, joined by the Academy-Award winning Johnson and producer Ram Bergman. (See photos below.)

Hundreds of movie fans came to see the premiere of the highly anticipated “Knives Out” sequel before its theatrical release on Nov. 23, one month ahead of its streaming debut on Netflix Dec. 23.

Throughout the 11-day film fest, a series of tributes and spotlights celebrates exceptional artists including Brendan Fraser, James Gray, Noah Baumbach, Daniel Gimenez Cacho, Nikyatu Jusu, Chinonye Chukwu and Sarah Polley.

Special guests include Frances McDormand, Tobias Lindholm, Eddie Redmayne, Nnamdi Asomugha, Samir Guesmi and Sebastian Lelio.
