Tam High Readies For Playoff Footbll

MILL VALLEY, CA — Tamalpais High is readying for playoff football.

The Red-tailed Hawks open the North Coast Section Division IV playoffs against Petaluma in what figures to be an evenly matched contest.

The two teams are scheduled to meet Saturday at 1 p.m. at Tamalpais High School.

Tamalpais advanced to the playoffs after finishing third in the Marin County Athletic League.

The Red-tailed Hawks (6-4, 5-2 MCAL), seeded No. 4, lost their last two regular season games after winning their previous five.

No. 5 Petaluma placed fourth in the Vine Valley League. The Trojans (7-3, 3-3 VVL) dropped three of their last five games after winning seven of their previous eight.

Tamalpais is led by sophomore quarterback Braden Young, who in nine games completed 88 of 124 pass attempts for 1,430 yards with 21 touchdowns and four interceptions.

Running back Sebastian Chen rushed for 1,036 yards and five touchdowns on 133 carries and receiver Sam Reade caught 44 passes for 705 yards and nine touchdowns.

Billy Kuhns caught 39 passes for 542 yards and seven touchdowns and Ezra Levy and William Basnight each had four touchdown receptions.

The Trojans are led by quarterback Henry Ellis, who was 79-for-146 passing for 1,332 yards with 20 touchdowns and six interceptions.

Henry Ellis rushed for 474 yards and 11 touchdowns on 97 carries to lead a backfield-by-committee featuring seven running backs who rushed for 174 yards or more.

Dawson Shaw caught 19 passes for 346 yards and six touchdowns and Silas Pologeorgis had 16 receptions for 337 yards and six touchdowns.
