Good Fortune for Sav Mor Food Store in Mountain View

The corner store that sold a winning lottery ticket recently has some news of its own to celebrate.

A dollar, and a lot of luck, is all anyone needs to strike it big in the lotto.

And for a lottery retailer, it takes a lot of people spending lots of dollars plus one of them winning $1 million or more for the retailer to also come out a winner.

That's what the owner of Sav Mor Food Store at 689 Calderon Ave. explained Wednesday. One of her machines sold a . This is the second time they sold a winning ticket.

"It was a small jackpot, so there is no commission unless it's over a million dollars," said the elder Chinese woman, a little too shy to reveal her name, who has owned the store for 22 years. "If there was a commission, I would be more excited."

She did say that since the drawing, many more people from the neighborhood and around have stopped in because they saw the store's name on the Internet.

But there is still some good fortune coming to this family, which will mean the closing of Sav Mor after the midday on Saturday, Mar. 16.

Editor's Note: I askd her why the store's sign was missing the "e" in both "save" and "more." She said that it was like that when they purchased the store from the previous owner. That perhaps something ate them. Funny lady!
