Mountain View Police Seek Suspicious Man Approaching Women

The man first approached a woman walking on Stevens Creek Trail near El Camino Real last Saturday. She was able to outrun him.

MOUNTAIN VIEW - Mountain View police are asking the public for help in identifying a man who was behaving suspiciously and tried to take a woman’s cell phone last Monday.

Police today said the man first approached a woman walking on Stevens Creek Trail near El Camino Real around 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 15 and tried to start a conversation.

When the woman felt uncomfortable and began to jog away the man ran after her, but she was able to outrun him, police said.

Around 2 p.m., another woman told police that a man with a similar description had tried to take her cell phone.

The man is described as a black or Hispanic male in his mid-30s, between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall with a stocky build.

He has a shaved head and a mustache and was last seen wearing glasses, a gray sweater, long black shorts that stopped at his ankles and tan Timberland boots, police said.

One victim said he was talking to himself before he approached her.
