40 Cited, 1 Arrested In Menifee Bicycle And Pedestrian Safety Sting

Some 52 drivers and pedestrians were stopped by police during the operation, which police plan to hold again soon.

MENIFEE, CA — Police cited 40 Menifee drivers and pedestrians during an operation focused on bicycle and pedestrian safety this Wednesday, officials said.

One person was arrested for driving on a suspended license and one minor was stopped for operating a SURON electric dirt bike, police said. The bike, which is not considered street legal, was impounded, according to the Menifee Police Department.

The sting took place throughout several streets and intersections within Menifee between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Over the course of the operation, 52 drivers and pedestrians were approached by police.

The department says it plans to hold another safety sting soon, but it has not set a date yet.

Funding for the operation was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
