Police Make Arrests In Shooting Outside North Bay Grocery Store

The male victims were rushed to a hospital as area residents were ordered to shelter in place.

AMERICAN CANYON, CA β€” Two arrests were announced Tuesday morning in connection with a shooting Monday afternoon outside of Safeway in American Canyon.

The American Canyon Police Department responded at 4:30 p.m. to a report of the shooting in the parking lot of the grocery store at 103 West American Canyon Road and found three male victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

As law enforcement responded, residents of the area were under shelter-in-place orders for nearly an hour and the public was warned to stay away.

Officers immediately began rendering first aid to the victims, who were promptly taken to a hospital.

Napa County sheriff’s detectives and the Napa County Major Crimes Task Force responded and took over the investigation.

Two people were immediately detained for questioning but no arrests were made as of 7:30 p.m. Monday.

More details were disclosed Tuesday. Police said in an update that an altercation escalated into gunfire. No innocent bystanders suffered injuries and the officers who responded to the scene were not involved in the shooting.

The three people taken to a hospital Monday with gunshot wounds have not been released from the hospital.

Christian Evans, an 18-year-old out of Vallejo, was arrested Tuesday morning on suspicion of multiple felony charges, including attempted murder, police said.

In addition, late Monday night, a male juvenile from Vallejo was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a concealable firearm by a minor, both of which are ffelonies.

Evans and the juvenile were being held without bail Tuesday, police said.
