Amber Alert For Pearl Pinson Remains Active

Despite unsuccessful searches last week, authorities want to remind residents the Amber Alert for the missing 15 year old remains in effect.

SOLANO COUNTY - Despite at least two unsuccessful searches last week for missing 15-year-old Pearl Pinson, authorities want to remind residents that the original Amber Alert for the teenager remains in effect, and are asking the Bay Area public to remain vigilant.

Pinson went missing last week Thursday morning in Vallejo at a I-780 pedestrian over-crossing after she was reportedly seen dragged by the dead suspect in the case, 19-year old Fernando Castro.

A witness reported seeing a Hispanic man with a gun allegedly pulling a white female, who was bleeding and yelling for help, on the over-crossing, according to sheriff's spokesperson Christine Castillo.

An Amber Alert was immediately issued on Thursday in an attempt to locate the young girl and her alleged captor.

Castro was killed in a gun battle with Santa Barbara County officers at a trailer park in Solvang later in the day.

Pinson was not with Castro when he was located.

Last Saturday, about 65 members of rescue teams from sheriff's offices in Solano, Sonoma, Sonoma, Mendocino and Marin counties unsuccessfully searched approximately 25 square miles of the Willow Creek area near Jenner for Pinson.

Castillo said the Solano County Office of Emergency Services Search and Rescue Team also conducted a search of the Glen Cove coastline in Vallejo, an open field and stream search of the area around the abduction site, and of the highway 37 area from Vallejo to Sonoma County, including the Skaggs Island area.

Solano County Sheriff authorities issued the following description of the girl:

  • White, with brown hair dyed green.
  • Green eyes
  • 5 feet, 3 inches; 130 pounds
  • Last seen wearing a gray sweater, black leggings, and a black and turquoise backpack (image attached.)
