NAPA COUNTY, CA — The chase for a man wanted in three counties ended when the driver hit another motorist and then a wall, police said.

An American Canyon police officer stopped Laron Hamilton, 24, of Vallejo, on Tuesday for driving while using his cell phone at the intersection of Eucalyptus and Donaldson Way, police said.

During the stop, Hamilton attempted to flee.

The officer chased Hamilton, who crashed into a motorist before colliding with a retaining wall at the intersection of Rio Del Mar and Los Altos.

A police camera captured the pursuit shortly before Hamilton hit what appears to be a low-slung wall.

The motorist Hamilton struck was not involved in the pursuit.

Police said the officer stopped Hamilton from trying to run away.

Hamilton is on felony probation in Solano, Sacramento, and Alameda counties, according to the American Canyon Police Department.

He was taken to the Napa County Department of Corrections.

He faces two warrants and multiple charges, including hit and run, using a cell phone while driving, and evading an officer, according to police.
