Caltrans To Partially Open New Roundabouts At Socscol Junction
Caltrans will also remove a traffic signal but must close one lane from Napa Valley Corporate Way to state Highway 29 for two weeks.
NAPA COUNTY, CA — A single-lane closure will be in effect on southbound State Highway 221 between Napa Valley Corporate Way and the offramp to northbound state Highway 29 starting Friday, July 26, and ending Friday, Aug. 9, Caltrans announced.
During the closure, crews will reconstruct southbound SR-221 for the new alignment as part of the ongoing construction of the Soscol Junction Roundabout project. To ensure the safety of workers and motorists, a single-lane reduction will be in place on southbound SR-221.
When the work starts at 9 a.m. July 26, SR-221 will be reduced to a single lane, and traffic will be shifted to two new roundabouts, deactivating the signalized intersection at SR-29 and southbound 221.

"Motorists should be aware this work will shift traffic to the two partially completed roundabouts for routing traffic between southbound SR-221, Soscol Ferry Road and SR-29," Caltrans Spokesperson Ryan Leong said. "The detour of northbound Soscol Ferry Road to northbound SR-221 will remain active."
Caltrans said motorists should expect delays and allow extra time to acclimate to this detour.

All work is weather-dependent.
A groundbreaking was held in June 2022 for the Soscol Junction project, which was designed to move traffic while keeping a low profile. The interchange also supports multi-model traffic, and a Class -1 pedestrian and bicycle path as an alternative means of travel, which was another goal of the project.
The three-year project is expected to be completed in Fall 2025.
