City Of Napa Appoints New Director Of Finance

With the hiring of Raj Prasad, the city is now looking to fill the deputy director role as soon as possible.

NAPA, CA — The city of Napa has appointed a familiar face to the position of finance director following a nationwide search.

Raj Prasad, the city's deputy finance director was appointed to the role after he proved to be a top candidate during the city's recruitment process for the position, Napa announced in a news release Friday, April 24.

Prasad will officially assume the director role on May 1, the city said.

"During his tenure as Deputy Director of Finance for the city of Napa, Prasad has successfully directed the city’s annual financial audit, implemented GASB 87 (the goal of which is to more accurately portray lease obligations in governmental financial statements), managed the post-ERP implementation reporting and troubleshooting, and conducted citywide training on Finance processes," the city said. "He has worked to develop relationships both within the Department and with staff throughout the organization."

Before joining the city, Prasad worked for over 18 years in local government and private sector financial management roles, the press release says. He was accounting manager for Citrus Heights outside of Sacramento, and before that worked as a senior accountant for West Sacramento.

Prasad received his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix in Sacramento and Master of Accountancy from William Jessup University in Rocklin.

With Prasad moving into the director role in the coming weeks, the city of Napa will look to fill the deputy director role as soon as possible.
