NAPA, CA — By the start of next week, Napa Valley residents who grew accustomed to shopping at Kohl's will need to do so in another city.

The last day of business for the department and clothing store at 1116 1st St. in the Napa Town Center is this Saturday, March 29, the retailer confirmed on its website. Shoppers can make one last stop at the store between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. this Friday and Saturday.

Kohl's announced the impending closure in January. Its fate is shared by 26 stores across the country, including 10 in California. Bay Area cities also losing a Kohl's store as of Saturday are Fremont, Mountain View, Pleasanton and San Rafael. The stores were underperforming, the retail chain said.

More than 900 people were employed across the affected California locations. All were "offered a competitive severance package or the ability to apply to other open roles" within the company, according to Kohl's.

Kohl's stores in the neighboring North Bay cities of Vallejo, Vacaville, Santa Rosa and Petaluma remain open — for now.
