Driver Hits Napa Police Car, Power Pole; DUI Suspected

A Napa man was arrested following the collision, police said.

NAPA, CA — A man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after police allege he crashed his vehicle into a police car early Sunday.

The two-vehicle crash occurred shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday on Redwood Road west of Solano Avenue.

Ulices Martinez Ortiz from Napa was driving his 2009 Jeep Liberty east on Redwood Road and a Napa police officer was driving a department Ford Explorer west on Redwood.

Ortiz allegedly crashed his vehicle into the police officer's vehicle, then crashed into a power pole.

No one was injured in the collision. Ortiz was arrested on suspicion of DUI. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
