Fatal Head-On Crash on HWY-121 Near Napa Under Investigation

CHP is still investigating a fatal head-on crash involving a gravel truck pulling two trailers, a DirecTV van, and a Jeep.

NAPA VALLEY, CA — A fatal head-on collision involving a gravel truck and van on Highway 121 near Napa killed a woman early Friday morning,

The three-vehicle crash happened near Burndale Road in Schellville about 7:30 a.m.

The crash involved a commercial gravel truck pulling two trailers, a DirecTV van, and a Jeep, according to the Napa California Highway Patrol office.

The Jeep driver died at the scene, CHP said.

The other drivers were not injured.

Investigators said they believe the crash occurred when the Jeep, traveling south on Highway 121, crossed over the double yellow lines and collided head-on with a northbound big rig towing two trailers.

The DirecTV van behind the Jeep crashed into the big rig.

It is unclear if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash, CHP reported.

Highway 121 was closed for more than four hours.
