Free Public Cancer Research Symposium in Napa Valley Set for Aug. 3
Event runs 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at V Marketplace in Yountville.

The latest advances in cancer diagnosis and treatment are on the agenda for a Cancer Research Symposium on Saturday, Aug. 3 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in Yountville. The presentation is free and open to the public.
Distinguished researchers from a number of the country’s leading cancer research centers are scheduled to appear at the event, set f in the Historic Barrel Room, V Marketplace inYountville.
Members of the Scientific Advisory Board of The V Foundation will describe current advances and discoveries into clinical applications, new diagnostics and alternative treatments to cancer at the two-hour session hosted by The V Foundation.

The symposium will be led by Robert C. Bast Jr., M.D., vice president for translational research at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. It will include a Q&A session offering attendees the opportunity to direct questions to some of the top physicians in the country.
The symposium is part of The V Foundation’s 15th annual Wine Celebration weekend, its yearly series of signature events to raise funds for cancer research.

Dr. Bast and the other symposium participants serve on The V Foundation Scientific Advisory Board, which comprises world-renowned doctors and research scientists from many of the nation’s most prominent universities and cancer centers.
The V Foundation for Cancer Research was founded in 1993 by ESPN and the late Jim Valvano, legendary North Carolina State basketball coach and ESPN commentator. Since 1993, the Foundation has raised more than $135 million to fund cancer research grants nationwide.
The V Foundation awards 100 percent of direct cash donations to cancer research and related programs.
