Human Remains Found Buried Near Napa River

Human remains were discovered on Friday in a Vallejo neighborhood
near the Napa River, according to police.

Officers responded to a call from a citizen who discovered what appeared to be a dead person buried in the ground west of Derr Street near Lemon Street at about 7 p.m., according to police.

Police went to the scene and secured the area until daylight on Saturday.

Investigators confirmed the presence of human remains and collected evidence from the scene, police said.

According to Vallejo police, the nature of the death is unknown.

No information was available about the victim, police said.
The death is being investigated as a homicide.
