Man Fleeing on Bicycle Captured by Napa Police

Man held on suspicion of heroin possession.

A 28-year-old Napa man was arrested by police after he tried to flee on a bicycle.

Chuck Clifford Rothberg was taken into custody at about 7 p.m. Saturday in the vicinity of  the 1800 block of W. Imola Ave., Napa, on suspion of possession, transporting or seeling narcotics or a controlled substance, probation violation and resisting arrest.

Police said the incident began when officers contacted Rothberg for a vehicle code violation while riding a bicycle in the 1800 block of W. Imola Ave.

According to police, Rothberg was very nervous and fidgety and denied being on probation. Probation was confirmed with a search and seizure term.

As officers attempted to search Rothberg, he attempted to flee on bicycle and was immediately captured and taken into custody.

Officers searched Rothberg and allegedly located syringes with hypodermic needles and two small baggies of suspected heroin in Rothberg’s pocket.

Rothberg was booked into Napa Department of Corrections.
