Napa County Recognized With Distinguished Budget Presentation Award
The county satisfied nationally recognized guidelines in four areas to earn the accolade.

NAPA COUNTY - For the first time in recent history, the Napa County Executive Office has been recognized for excellence with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
The award represents a significant achievement and reflects the County’s commitment to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. To earn the award, Napa County satisfied nationally recognized guidelines designed to assess how well an entity's budget serves as:

- A policy document
- A financial plan
- An operations guide
- A communications device
Budget documents must be rated "proficient" in all four categories, and in the 14 mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award.
"I am extremely proud of my team for their dedication and hard work in achieving this recognition," said Ryan Alsop, Napa County CEO. "The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award reflects the fiscal integrity and management of not only the development of our budget but is a testament to the exceptional efforts of the executive office staff and our department heads. This recognition strengthens our dedication to the citizens of Napa County and underscores the essential work we do on behalf of taxpayers."

The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting and represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its executive management. There are over 1,700 participants in the Budget Awards Program, and award recipients set an example for other governments throughout North America.
The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) advances excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources, and practical research for more than 22,500 members and the communities they serve.
