Napa County Voters Pass Measure D, Re-Elect Supervisor Dillon

NAPA COUNTY, CA — Napa County appears to have voted to eliminate personal use airports and heliports on Tuesday, passing a countywide measure with 61 percent of the vote, according to unofficial election returns.
Measure D, which passed with 8,689 votes in favor versus 5,542 against, will amend the county code to prohibit personal use for airports and heliports in most areas, unless they are already zoned for an airport.

It also restricts most takeoffs and landings for helicopters, unless they are in direct support of agricultural activities and unavoidable.

Another ballot measure, Measure C, which would set limits on removing oak trees and requirements to replace them near streams and wetlands, was too close to call Tuesday night.

The measure was supported by environmental groups like the Sierra Club. It was narrowly leading with 7,191 yes votes compared to 7,149 no votes. If passed, the measure would affect the growth of vineyards by
limiting development.

Napa County Supervisor Diane Dillon appears to have been re-elected, defeating vineyard owner Lucio Perez. Dillon had 1,978 votes and Perez had 1,556 votes.
