Napa Man Faces Felony After Choking Paraplegic Father

Daniel Pena got into an argument with his brother Wednesday in a Napa home. When their paraplegic father intervened, he was choked.

NAPA - A 24-year-old Napa man has been arrested and charged with a felony after grabbing his 58-year-old paraplegic father by the neck and choking him.

According to police, Napa resident Daniel Pena got into an argument about 1:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 1500 block of Parkwood St with his brother, and pushed the brother.

Police say Pena’s paraplegic father, a dependent adult, attempted to separate his sons, but Daniel Pena grabbed his father’s throat and β€œsqueezed it for several seconds resulting in redness to his neck area.β€œ

At that point Pena fled, according to authorities.

Napa firefighters responded and evaluated the father’s injuries. The older man chose to seek his own medical attention.

Approximately 4:00 p.m., police say Pena returned to the Parkwood address, at which time his mother called the police.

Officers responded to the address and and took Pena into custody without incident.

Daniel Pena was found to have outstanding warrants for DUI, and was booked at the Napa County Department of Corrections for a felony, causing harm to a dependent adult, and the DUI warrants.
